Description

The Plantronics APA-2 Electronic Hook Switch module enables a wireless headsets user to place or receive a call without the need to lift the handset, thereby eliminating the need for a mechanical device such as the Plantronics HL10 handset lifter.

The APA-2 model, part number 38348-01, is compatible with the full CS line of Plantronics wireless headsets such as the Plantronics CS55, CS70N, CS351N, CS361N, and the following phone models:

Good and Bad - Alcatel Hook Switch

I like the hook switch for Alcatel phones. Anyone with an Alcatel phone knows that the only solution for an electronic handset pick up is the old model lifter which is as big as an old Buick. This switch offers a great solution in place of the lifter. But, it does have a few negatives.
1. The headset will no longer ring in your ear. (No microphone for hearing the ringing)
2. No accessory plug. (Unable to connect the ring light indicator to notify people when you are on the phone).
3. The headset is always on. Therefore, you only have about a 4 to 5 hour battery life for your headset. The only workaround is to put your headset back in the cradle and use it to answer calls only.
