Dragon no longer supported on iOS devices (MAC dictation software setup)

Updated by on Mar 1, 2024

Starting in 2018 Dragon Naturally Speaking will no longer be supporting updates to iOS based computers.

What this means for our you is that when you update your operating systems to these new versions, you will be surprised to find that you can no longer use Dragon on your computer. There is nothing that we can do to restore this ability. You would have to revert your software to an earlier version, which Apple does not make easy.

However, there is a built in dictation software on these computers that they can use instead.

In the pictures below you will see the settings that we will need to adjust for enabling headsets to work with this dictation software.

Mac computer installed dictation settings part 1

The first picture is the “Keyboard” section of System Preferences. This is where we will turn on dictation and then you will choose how to engage it.

Mac computer audio settings output and input

The second picture is the “Sound” section of System Preferences. This is where we will select the audio device you wish to use.
