Leitner Wireless Setup with SNOM and Nextiva Phones: SNOM EHS

Also known as an electronic hookswitch, an EHS cable is the device that allows you to answer phones from a distance just by turning on the headset. All you need is this device, a Leitner headset, the right phone, and the correct way to connect it!

Leitner SNOM EHS Setup

In this article, we will be showing you how to connect your Leitner office headset to different SNOM phones. The setups are pretty similar, but let's go through them one at a time. This setup will also work for the Jabra Engage 75 Wireless Headset

SNOM 300, 320, 370, 820, D3x5, D785, D735, D717, and all Nextiva phones

SNOM 300, 320, 370, 820, D3x5, D785, D735, D717 cords

For this setup, we will need the box, as well as the 2 cords circled. The one in red is not labeled on the cord, and the one in blue is labeled as "S3xx EXT s820 EXT". Will also need the connector cord (RJ9 to RJ9) that came with the headset. Will have a green sticker on one end.

  • Plug one end of the red circled cord into the AUX port in the back of the Leitner or Jabra charger base, then plug the other end into the large connector port on the SNOM box
  • Take the cord circled in purple and plug the side that says "EHS Box" and plug it into the, well, EHS box, then take the other end and plug it into the "EXT" or "1/0" port (whatever is available) in your SNOM (or Nextiva) phone
  • Take the connector cord that came with the headset
    • For Leitner: plug the green side into the green port in the back of the headset base (2nd from the right). The other end should go into the headset jack in the back of your SNOM (or Nextiva) phone
    • For Jabra: plug one end of the cord into the blue port in the back of the headset base, then the other end into the headset jack of the phone
  • Flip the headset base over and move the RHL switch to DHSG, and make sure the switch on the right is all the way to the top at 1
  • Lastly, go ahead and reboot your SNOM phone, and it should start working!
    • Note: Reboot not required if plugging into Nextiva phone
