Plantronics Wireless Setup With SNOM and Nextiva Phones: SNOM EHS

Disclaimer: We no longer sell Plantronics headset, thus we do not have much information on them aside from what is in this article. If you need help with this headset, it may be a good idea to contact Poly or reach out to the company you may have bought it from.

What does the EHS do?

Also known as an electronic hookswitch, it is the device that allows you to answer phones from a distance just by turning on the headset. All you need is this device, a Plantronics CS or Savi headset, and the correct way to connect it!

In this article, we will be showing you how to connect your Plantronics office headset to different SNOM phones. The setups are pretty similar, but let's go through them one at a time. Below is a picture that acts as a guiding light, though your connection may be slightly different.

SNOM 300, 320, 370, 820, D3x5, D785, D735, D717, Nextiva phones

SNOM 300, 320, 370, 820, D3x5, D785, D735, D717 cords

For this setup, we will need the box, as well as the 2 cords circled. The one in red is not labeled on the cord, and the one in blue is labeled as "S3xx EXT s820 EXT". Will also need the connector cord (RJ45 to RJ9) that came with the headset.

  • Plug one end of the cord with a pin on it (red circled cord) into the AUX port in the back of the Plantronics charging base, then plug the other end into the small pinhole port on the SNOM box
  • Take the cord circled in purple/blue (it will have this label on the cord "S3xx EXT s820 EXT") and plug the side that says "EHS Box" and plug it into the, well, EHS box, then take the other end and plug it into the "EXT" or "1/0" port (whatever is available) in your SNOM (or Nextiva) phone
  • Take the connector cord that came with the headset and plug the big end into the back of the charging base, then the other end into the headset jack of your phone
  • Flip the headset base over and make sure the sliding switch is set to A
  • Lastly, go ahead and reboot your SNOM phone, and it should start working!

  • Note: You can skip this step if plugging into Nextiva phone
