OfficeRunner II Troubleshooting: No Sound or Microphone Audio

If you cannot hear your caller, your caller cannot hear you, or both sides have no sound, work through these OfficeRunner II checks in order. Most audio problems come from the selected mode, a loose cord, mute, or a temporary connection issue.

1. Select the device you are using

On the front of the base, select Telephone for a desk phone or Computer for calls and audio on your computer. Confirm that the light above the correct device icon is on.

2. Turn on the headset

Remove the headset from the base and press the ON/OFF button. The device light on the base should change from white to blue when the headset is active.

3. Check mute

If the mute icon on the base is red, the microphone is muted. Press the headset's mute control once, then test the microphone again.

4. Reseat every cord

Push each cord firmly into the headset base and the device it connects to. For a desk phone, pay special attention to the phone and handset connections. For computer use, reseat the USB cable and confirm the OfficeRunner II is selected as both the speaker and microphone in your computer and calling app.

5. Power-cycle the base

  1. Place the headset on the base.
  2. Unplug the base's power cord. If the USB cord is connected, unplug that too.
  3. Wait 20 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power and USB cords, then test a call.

6. Reset and recharge the headset

  1. Place the headset correctly in the charging cradle.
  2. Use the tip of a pen to press the recessed S1 reset button on the base.
  3. Leave the headset on the base for one full hour before testing it again.

7. Isolate a computer settings problem

Make a short recording using Sound Recorder or Voice Recorder on Windows, or QuickTime's New Audio Recording feature on a Mac. If the recording works, the headset microphone is working and the problem is most likely in the settings of your calling application.

If you still have no audio, call us at 1-800-432-3738. A Headset Advisor can help determine whether the issue is with the headset, base, cord, phone, or computer settings.
